We have an election concerning expanding alcohol sales here in Danville to include that of packaged sales. For those outside of the area, let me be clear – you can already get it by the drink in several establishments, as well as packaged in several nearby counties, including a less then thirty minute drive in at least three directions. And yes, you guessed it, I have an opinion.

On this date one hundred and fifty years ago the book, On the Origin of Species was published. Written of course by that sometime honored and other times maligned person by the name of Charles Darwin. The issues that came forth from the work clearly created division at that time and certainly continue today, perhaps even more so. Given this nice round date and some of the scientific based analysis that came from that publication I thought a short blog was in order.

Went with some friends to see this movie on the opening weekend. Actually had to go twice, as the first attempt on Friday evening was sold out – much to my surprise (and here I thought all the hype was New Moon but the theater was full for Blind Side). That all aside, the movie is based on the true life story of Micheal Oher and his adoptive family the Tuohy’s of Memphis, Tennessee. I admit I did not realize that it based on a true story and was initially interested in seeing the film because of Sandra Bullock.

Or… what I did a few nights ago that had not been made public that was so interesting. I love the idea that is presented and thought it would be a fun thing to give a grand effort toward. I mean after all, this woman is clearly attractive, very active, passionate about a fair number of things. Beyond those qualities is the fact that she is a world traveler, apparently owns homes in New York City and Lake Tahoe, and is in general seems to be a very positive person. So, at this point, I am finding myself mildly feeling the sting of rejections, as I proposed my proposal several days ago and have, as of yet, not received a response.

EULA. While it may be the sound you make right before and while you are throwing up, that is not what I was thinking. End User License Agreement is what I mean by EULA. Have you ever read one of those things of late? They are indeed a mouth full of legal jargon that basically most of the time sum up that you as the end user can not really do anything with that software you just purchased. Of course I would have to start with just how many of you have even read one of them? I can tell you that I have read several, both as a consumer and back when I did software testing.

Cursive is not being taught in schools? What? So yeah, this was a bit of a conversation that I overheard and then briefly got involved in a few weeks back. Apparently, it is a trend with a lot of schools. They teach printing and skip right to keyboarding skills. I find this as a real discouraging development on my part and see this trend as a bad idea over all.

I bite my fingers nails, at least most of the time. I have done this since I was a fairly young kid. It has nothing to do with any sort of nervous habit. One could say, based on when I am most apt to do it, that it is probably more associated with boredom. For instance, when driving a long distance is one of the times it most likely to occur.

I find myself at one of my local favorite places this eve enjoying a beer awaiting the ‘Last Free Man in America’ to address the group that is slowly assembling here as he is getting a start on his campaign for governor of this fine commonwealth of Kentucky in 2011. If are from around the state you would have to probably be living under a rock to not know that I am speaking about Gatewood Galbraith.

The List is the name of Rosanne Cash’s latest effort. The album itself is about twelve or so songs (depends on format and bonus tracks) of historical importance and significance in especially country music. Some of them are very similar to some traditional versions of the songs and others have a completely new slant and direction that Rosanne takes them in, including several that are done as duos with several folks one would not suspect. The most interesting thing though, is where the songs and indeed, the album name comes from – her father, Johnny.

I started this several days back and for whatever reason I did not get it finished. I did make a few notes about the rest of my random thoughts and thought I would put those here quickly and go with it. Those of who read here on a regular basis know that I am not to much on putting together random thoughts, but some of these just seemed to be begging to get out now without becoming a full enough thought for a blog entry. Besides, I have over fifty drafts here in Wordpress and several more between my note card book and a file stored on my desktop (keep coming back the rest of this month, but really be looking for November in regards to those posts by the way). And of course, my favorite, a list is so appropriate for this kind of thought process.
