Life has been, to say the least, busy. It has in truth been a whirlwind, or so it would seem, the last two months. I continue to be behind on everything from armour prep for Gulf Wars in just over two weeks to never seeming to get a blog written at all. Some quickly noted observations though continuing with that new category that seems to lend itself to such things fairly easily while I finish enjoying the last cup of coffee before heading out to some family obligations that I have this afternoon.

I have so much to do and yet so much to say both here and at the other blogs. When trying to get things ready for both a wedding, a huge medieval event (maybe two), all the while spending time with the wife to be (on a surprise birthday trip, kudos for her and special moments for me) and keeping up with work can make one a bit crazy. It has ended up being that the blogs have suffered most and the armor the 2nd most. Anyway, here is one that I have had hanging on the wall in front of the computer for a long time while I debated about doing it or not. I will post and then explain it at the end, then you can decide if the act is commendable or deserving of the death penalty.

I have a few hundred things I should be doing right now and amongst those was the idea of maybe getting some sleep. Two days in row that around 4:30 or so I have started feeling a bit upset to my stomach and rather wretched. I thought yesterday it was the pizza from the night before – today I suspect poisoning of some nature or another. So, after talking on the phone for a while with Shauna and later filling in a dear friend, followed by some killing time catching up with a PBS show all the while thinking I was near to sleep, I instead find myself rather wide awake and still feeling a bit icky several hours later.

For any computer programmers and even a large number of almost computer programmers we all know that BASIC is an acronym for Beginners All-Purpose Symbolic Instructional Code. And while my focus is not on BASIC itself today, let me ad that for a long time I used Advanced BASIC (a seemingly oxymoron in itself) at the office back in my days at IBM and Lexmark – which used basica for the command line launch of the compile and link. To this day, after typing b-a-s-i-c-a-<space>-something else a few hundred thousand times, in regular typing it almost occurs automagically and I can type “… it was a basic thought.” and I will get “…it was a basica thought.“ All that aside, I thought a primer on some commonly used abbreviations and acronyms was in order.

I really hate to break this to the world, but I have just been lazy. Really as for blogging I suppose it goes back to November when I did the month full of posting once a day. Did that sour me and burn me out? I do not really think so. I really dislike making a posting about all the reasons why I have not blogged, as I am sure it is not really that interesting of a read, but I am feeling compelled for my own sake all the same. It is my blog after all so bear with me, after all it is 6:00ish in the AM on Sunday morning and I have been awake since 4:30ish at least.
