Firefox Addons

FirefoxA bit ago I was giving the Firefox browser down the road and even as I did so I was lamenting the lack of some of those cool extension in the other browser platforms, especially Google’s Chrome. There seems to have come some stability and not a new update every week for the last little bit. With that I have stopped having the hangs and crashes I was having for a while there with Firefox. During my multiple fights with Firefox there was more then one complete uninstall, download, and reinstall completely new. As I started putting my plugins back in place, I have pleasantly found a couple that I am not sure how I lived without.

Thumb Drives & MP3’s

Memory SticksI know I am on a technology kick here the last few post and I have a couple of more that I may mention here in the near future as well.  A few months ago, I was contemplating buying a second Zune (or some other kind of MP3 playing device) because at 4GB capacity my current one only holds about one eighth of my total music collection and of course.   The expense of the item and hearing rumblings of a new model coming out deterred me at the time, but I had another idea at the time that I thought was even better.

Library Thing

Library ThingSome of you may recall that in a post last week about what I was reading I got sidetracked a bit about not having an easy computerized catalog of my personal collection.  I left that blog with a thought of how easy such a piece of software that was web based would be to develop.  I further though with the general past open state of things like Amazon, I would be able to pull in a large amounts of data with relatively few pieces of search information for a particular title.  I even spent the evening making some notes and looking at API calls that would be required.  And then a friend of mine posted on here that what I needed was something like LibraryThing.

Internet Woes

WiresOver the last few weeks I have really started to notice just how fragile the technology that we have come depend on really is.  Of course I am on of the people with an inside view and completely understand that it is and am not caught by surprise, but I do wonder about the rest of the world who just take for granted that the technology is always going to be there.   Of course the technology I am really talking about here is the internet and the network that supports it.  But by that I also mean all the smart devices out there from your simple MP3 player to the more complex smart phones that do everything but the dishes.

Food

FoodThis past week, after seeing one of my favorites, the band BLCP I took a friend to see a movie.  The movie was kind of odd, in that it was a documentary.   But I had been wanting to see the movie Food for some time and it was playing downtown at the Kentucky, just a few blocks over from where BLCP was playing at Thursday Night Live.

My Nightstand

Books on the NightstandI have been meaning to write another one these entries about what I am reading, watching and listening to for sometime.  I knew I had written one a while back with intent of making it a regular kind of feature here on Mephistos at the time.  As a favorite really bad B movie says, “Time Passes…”  Now, nearly a year and half later I am returning to the concept.  A few comments first of course, and then a quick rundown of what I am reading.

Two Week Daytimer

DaytimerThat should probably really say two week night and weekend timer, but that seems like a mouthful.  Seems an odd thing to blog about, but at least more then a few of these I want a bunch of other people to come out and have at least half as good of a time as I plan on having.  So, I thought it prudent to just post what it is that is coming up that I plan to attend, where  and when it is, and what my general expectations are of the matter.  Met up with me at your own risk of course…

It Needs…

Posted in: Frustrations, Life | Posted by: rcornish | Comments: 2 | Date: 11 September, 2009

It needs to be written, but I just can not get the words to come out.  It is not the lack of words either, but rather the jumble of a million of them, some even in semi half thoughts and a few making a complete one.  But until they can come together coherently with the mad rush of raw emotion, the need will have to remain unsatisfied.

I really do not know when it will be able to be addressed.   Some thoughts I have had on the matter so far without really giving it away I have posted as one line tweets.  Perhaps a recap of some of those a few that have not made it would be in order.

New Truck

Newish TruckAs more then a few people know at this point, I made the plunge last week and got a new, new to me at least, truck.  I was planning on looking at particular one that  a used dealership had on the lot a few days before.  I had dealt with the dealership before with good success so was happy about that.  When I stopped it, the one I was particularly interested in was sold.  They did have one that I liked even a bit more for about the same price.  Decided to mention it in a blog as I do not think there is even a picture of the Oldsmobile Alero, much less a mention in the two years I had it in a blog.

To Blog or Not to Blog…

Posted in: Blogging, Literature | Posted by: rcornish | Comments: 1 | Date: 07 September, 2009

Hamlet and SkullTo blog or not to blog, that is the question?  Wither it is more noble to write here, per chance to be read by some few who happen to pass this way and thus justify the existence of the blog and further substantiate my own being or better instead to write in my private journal for my own personal needs, knowing none shall likely ever read, but yet, in a different way provide my own substance of existence by spilling my soul out in words?
