For the few of you that were reading this a LONG time ago you may recall my confusion and questioning of airline mathematical principals way back when. Basically, they had leg A to B to C cheaper then just leg B to C by itself, on the same plane. Apparently I need to expand that theory to cover the entire travel based industry though based on my recent experience with hotels. I continue to be baffled, but read on and maybe someone else can explain this basic math to me that I can not seem to grasp.
This is a total rant – so be warned – sometimes I just got to rant about something that is bugging me. What the heck has happened to customer service of late? Take a step further, when was the last time the customer actually was right according to the establishment. So I am going to share a couple of experiences of late and see if what you all think.
Of several things that I have noticed of late is the seeming price creep and amount of expense that I have had recently on my lunch dining experience. Combine that with a similar creep in my weight again and I decided I have to get motivated and do something about it. A quick observation that came about with some conversation from a friend is how I really do not mind that $2.00 – $4.00 lunch that you can get around at various places, especially if you watch just a little bit and are willing to be flexible on given days.
In the last week or so I have started having a lot of crashes, lockups, and blue screens of death on my system. I had been trying to figure things out and had looked at several things. The error reporting kept suggesting it was a problem with an out of date USB device driver, but that was not the case. Everything was up to date, which was another it suggested might be the problem. I was grasping at seeming straws to find a solution.
Somehow it seems appropriate that I am sitting here in a bar having a drink as I begin the writing of this blog, considering that a long bunch of drinking is exactly how this whole thing got started. For those that have paid attention, you know that there was a baby on the way. In fact, if you happened to catch for the day or two that it up, you may have seen that the due date was less that four and half months away.
Can Rachel Alexandra beat the boys in the Preakness? Will Mine that Bird come through and put is in the running for a Triple Crown Winner, the first in over thirty years? What about one of the other favorites who under performed in Kentucky Derby slightly less then two weeks ago?
I am thinking that everyone that knows me very well pretty much knows that I have a certain level of disdain for medical field in general and especially doctors. It generally comes from a higher and more important then you attitude that a lot of doctors seem to take. Most take it one step further and assume that no one, especially the person they are seeing, can truly understand the complexities of what they are actually doing. Reality often is though they are guessing as much as anything based on experiences and what they have seen granted, but without feedback from the patient they would often be totally clueless.
There is a lot of stuff I have to write about it. Matter of fact, I have so many drafts noted here on the blog, not to mention notes on three different envelopes (one in each vehicle and one in general), not to even mention my little notebook of cards that is beaming with notes for a blog. Many of those in fact have started to loose the impact of the post based on the lack of timely posting it. Bottom line is though that between work and things going on otherwise and my inability to be focused on the blogs of late I have not gotten much posting done.
The derby is set to go off tomorrow afternoon. Today was the Oaks, Kentucky and especially Louisiville’s local day at the beautiful Churchill Down facility. I had been meaning to write an update for sometime, especially given the two horses I had mentioned back much earlier in the year (Stardom Bound and Old Fashioned) will not be making an appearance. First a quick update on the two horses I had picked and then let me give you my picks from what is going to be there and couple of other notes.
