BloggingI admit that I have been very bad about doing a regular set of blogging this month.  Especially as I was officially kicking off a second and third blog in the thirty to fifty days.  However as I count it up, I think I have managed pretty close to one post a day between the three blogs.  Of course the plan was to have one a day from all three of them.  Anyway, that is me now rambling.  What I really wanted to talk about was a couple of new blog tools that I found this evening that I am pretty excited about.

Geeky Synchronicity

Zero Hour - Crisis in TimeSo I am currently catching up on a show that a couple of friends of mine put me onto back a bit ago, called The Big Bang Theory.   The basic premise of the show is there are four fairly geeky guy ranging from the pure scientist to the engineer, each with their own unique personalities.  While the most geeky of all seems to not care, the other three are at times (in between debated theories, huge discussions of the perfect ethnic food, and the required playing of many and varied video/computer games) often engaged in one scheme or another to become more mainstream and socially accepted, especially in regards to matters of the heart or least the casual affections of a female companion.

AddtoAnyAs most of you know I have een running the Share This plugin here on mephistos.com for some time now.   There are some options about it that I really like, including the ability that it has to do some limited customization of the links that show up.  However, I have more then a few social network/link share types of sites that I would like to also push it out to that it does not support.   So, I decided to do a little bit of experimenting.  Welcome the new plugin call AddtoAny.

MyspaceI have been away from the blog for a few days, it was a busy week with things going on both in life and at the office with a number of people being out of the office. But I got a bunch of things to write about for all three of the blogs if I can just find the time to do so this coming week. As I was really pushing the new blogs last week, or was it the week before, I have ran into some issues with MySpace. Actually specifically one issue and it is a major one.

Top Ten with Jose and Baby

Posted in: Life | Posted by: rcornish | Comments: 1 | Date: 07 April, 2009

TenThis is the top ten things NOT to do if you are expecting a baby in the fall and have dinner with Jose. This is mostly a parody of things, but not completely. Enjoy the humor of it if you can and if not, well, laugh anyway. As someone else kinda says, “I don’t care who you are this is funny…” I am counting them down in the style of David Letterman. To bad, at least to my knowledge, you can not make an ordered list count backwards.

Preoccupied – Baby Issues

Police TapeAs most of the world knows, I am having a baby.  Well, okay, specifically I am the Daddy part of having this baby, Nikki is the person actually having the baby.  Just so everyone knows some details, the baby is due the first week or so of October.  Nikki lives just outside of Knoxville, Tennesse.  And yeah, there are a LOT of things to figure out between now and then.  As if all that was not enough to give a person enough to be concerned with and have a lot on the mind, add the following almost unbelievable situation on top of things.

Kentucky TelcoI do my local banking with a credit union named Kentucky Telco.  Strangely enough they were started as a credit union that catered to telecommunications workers.  I have been using them since shortly after having moved back to Kentucky, what seven years ago now.  I love the actual branch in Harrodsburg, where I have done most of my banking.  That is not the case at the Lexington branch though.

April Fool’s Virus Hoax?

Posted in: Technology | Posted by: rcornish | Comments: 0 | Date: 01 April, 2009

WormReaders, today we were suppose to be braced for for implosion of the internet as we knew it.  The conficker virus was suppose to go active and take out so much of the infa-structure of the network that computer communication would become all but impossible.  First, lets be clear on terminology, it is a worm, not a virus.  The potential destruction is probably greater, as it can ‘crawl’ around some on its own to an extent.  Two things I think have happened that curtailed this big play on our technological pleasures today and perhaps a third one as well.
