Giveaway of the DayKeeping with my current theme that has mostly focused on technology the last few days, I got another one or two cool things to make a few notes about.  The topic for today  is a site called Giveaway of the Day.  Not sure how they do it and profit, short of just promotion, but they basically get free software to give away. Gulf WarsGulf Wars XVIII is coming up this March, specifically the 15th-22nd thereof down in Lumberton, Mississippi.  For those of you keeping track of such things, yeah, it is time for me to make that long trek down southward again, as I have been every other year since Gulf Wars X.  And this year, as usual, I will be taking horses down with me. Gran TorinoI went out to see this movie last weekend, at least I think it was last weekend. Realize that is starting to wind down its run at the cinema, but it is still out there at this point. If you have missed it definitely catch it at your local dollar cinema or be ready to catch it on video/cable. Read more…

25 Random Things

Posted in: Life | Posted by: rcornish | Comments: 3 | Date: 22 January, 2009

RandomNot my usual kind of thing, but it came across facebook from a good friend I found myself realizing a few new things and gained some insight otherwise.  So I thought I would follow suite.  I have posted this on facebook and welcome you to do the same, if not there, do it in your own blog, myspace, or even as a comment here.   It was to be sent to 25 friends, but I figure why limit to that number?  So the instructions were basically to note 25 random things about yourself.  I tried to include a few things that not everyone would know as well. Ping Door?So sometime back last week I was all excited about about a tool that was called Ping.FM.  Matter of fact I am still excited about that particular tool and rather then rehash that all here, you should just click on that link and go read.  However, in the same blog entry I jumped on the bandwagon of a tool called PingPressFM – obviously a counter part to the former.  I perhaps made that jump a little too soon. President ObamaI agree that with President Elect Obama taking the oath of office and becoming the President today was indeed a historic moment. I think that it is great that we live in a country where we have finally realized that we can have a black man as our president, even if I don’t necessarily agree with all of his ideas.  Even with that, I will say it seems like, Read more…

myFarm

Perhaps I am being a little over the top or a little silly with this but I really don’t think so.   As I am sure more then a few of you know I am on Facebook.   A few more of you know that I occasionally allow a little time to get sucked into the little games that are available there, though usually with most of them I quickly become bored or otherwise realize that there is going to be to much time involved to really have fun with it.  Not the case with though, called myFarm. NaBloPoMo
Well, I got some effort to make up to get back up to speed to accomplish this one, but it is a goal for next month.  The concept is a similar to NaNoWriMo (which I blogged about sometime ago) and is called NaBloPoMo.   Quick refresher, NaNoWriMo happens in November and is a goal to write a novel (50,000 words) in a month by writing often.  NaBloPoMo is similar, National Blogging Post Month, where you challenge yourself to a post everyday in a month. ping.fmBet that title is a little bit cryptic for anyone not in the know, but I have mentioned it sometime ago here in the blog.   For those that were not around or who are just now getting to this wonderful piece of the net that I call my blog, here is a quick little refresher: Read more…

Seven Pounds

Seven PoundsOver the weekend had the opportunity to go out for a movie with friends. When we left, slowly making our way to the cinema, the plan was for one movie but by the time we got there, dinner, a few calls, and perhaps a hundred text messages later Seven Pounds was the decided upon feature we would see. Now I agreed to see it without really knowing what it was about but figuring that Will Smith has been good of late. I had seen the previews, (why do they call those a trailer, they are always in front of – the movies as previews, prior to the release of the movie on television and the internet?) but those only left me wondering is it an action thriller where someone looses it or what?
