I realize I have not had much to say of late, well, maybe it is because I have not taken the time to say it, or maybe I have been saying it inside my head or journal instead of here. As I continue my discussion of answers to common questions that I get in regards to the who, where, and how of jousting, I am going to turn to the International Jousting Association. The IJA, as it is often referred to is just what is sounds like. It is an international organization of like minded jousters from around the world. The membership numbers are much smaller then that of the SCA (see my previous post in this series for more information). I am not sure how I missed this Across the Universe when it was out at the theaters. Actually I am not completely sure it ever made it to a regular run of the mill cinemas or not. Maybe the more artsy ones, but it is truly a shame. A bit of brief checking around suggested that the few people I know who knew about it did not think it was that great. Critically it was mixed at best and financially it grossed roughly half of its budged 45 million to make it. Fortunately, I got to see it and I am of the opposite opinion. Read more…
