News…
Some quick updates since I have been away from the blog for a few days. Lots of stuff going on in my life right now and I have purposefully put the blog aside for the past few days. So a few quick things just to get them out there and get a post. Speaking of posts, that is something to note. If I don’t post the traffic flow to the website crawls to a sluggish almost stop. I thought you dear readers hung on every word I had to say and checked in regularly just to make sure I had not said anything. Guess I am wrong on that one.
- I noted sometime ago about the ongoing ramp up in the browser wars, where everyone is trying to one up the others that are out there. I think the most recent update from Firefox (3.03) is to patch a couple of security risks, but apparently G-Mail was the primary exploiter of the the holes. My G-mail has crashed the 3.03 Firefox so many times in the past four days I can not count them all. The crashes were worse with one the G-Mail plugins – but disabling it still did not immunize me against all crashes. I am now forced to check G-Mail on Internet Explorer and I am not happy with an apparent lack of testing on Firefox’s part.
- I have some darn stubborn miniature horses. They are so fat that they are bigger around then they are long and yet they feel compelled to bring through an electric fence daily lately. Now in all fairness the charger died and the first replacement was having some issues where it would work sometimes and not others. But as of today they are officially confined and they still broke out and it is not to eat, they have food in the pasture. They just want to get out and stroll around the grounds apparently. This has been taking a LOT of time the last several days.
- I have a major deal going on in life. Something that is very much on my mind and as I contemplate the whole of it I am left wondering about many things. Just so much to take it all in and figure it all out and so on. It is, especially when combined with the other things, enough to almost drive a person insane. Had a friend tell me that I need Xanax or something – never have thought of myself as that, but I admit right now that may not be far off.
- I am back to putting in a LOT of hours at the office. Last week I had 4 days where I approached eleven hours or more. I took Monday off and you guessed it. Today 100 emails when I came in were in my inbox and I only just a bit ago stopped working, so my average is right back up there. Just a lot of stuff to try and wrap up between now and year end. Actually several of them are between now and Thanksgiving.
- Speaking of all that and feeling a bit crazy, I recall from reading one of my favorites, Zen and Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, how at one point he had checked himself in and self elected for electric shock treatments. Given all the things on my mind lately and the not being sure of things I have to wonder if the the electric shock ‘treatments’ from testing the electric fence are working? Seriously, it is not to bad to just test it with a touch on the smaller sized chargers I am using. But let me just say, WOW if you have your knee in contact with wet soil and accidentally touch the live fence – that will make you think electric shock therapy for sure. Good thing it pulses!
- The good bit of news, I did have dinner with an old friend last night. Probably been near a year since we have had more then a few casual conversations here and there. It was indeed good to catch up with him and hear about how things are going and to realize once again how come it is that we have in most times gotten along so well – simply put we have so many common interests and are in a lot of ways a lot alike in out thoughts and opinions.
I think I need to go for a long hard horse ride in the woods, one where we are pushing both of us. For those that know think rings caught in teeth, hat in hand behind us, reigns lose giving him his full head on the charge. Follow that with hitting something really hard with a big stick and seeing it splitter into pieces at least a dozen passes or so. Those would both be even better then the electrical shock therapy.
