Thankful Again

Fuzzy Horse in the FallI warned you all that I was going to start doing this on a regular basis. I think it helps me to take a few moments and realize just a few of the wonderful things of which I should be appreciative. Been a rough a few weeks of late, between things just be screwed up and other things beyond that, so I think with that it is even more appropriate to have a few things to note that I am thankful about.  A list of those things follows…

  • Fall is really and truly here.  The last couple of mornings I have truly had to pull the the blanket up to be comfortable.  Pumpkins and apples are everywhere to be found as well, as are the leaves, what few are not just falling off without changing colors.  Still looking for a good glass of fresh cider though.
  • Last weekend hanging out with friends, old and new,  in St. Louis was awesome.  The historic area is definitely something I am going to have to check out again when I got more time to check out the row of houses that contain almost to a number antique stores of some sort in everyone for five blocks on both sides of the street.
  • Getting the time to get a few things knocked out at the office - granted there are still 100 more things on the list of things to do, but as things are resolved with the major install and we move forward hopefully things that we are able to get done will continue to increase.
  • A wonderful evening to the south, hanging out with someone that is truly a good friend.  Also the long walk along the river and to the historic fort was pretty enjoyable as well.  I am definitely going to have to put this on the list of things to visit and check out again.
  • Horse racing is going on in Kentucky again.  I think I mentioned that last time, but it bears mentioning again.  Keeneland has one more week, focus then goes the Breeders Cup for one afternoon, and then Churchill will fire up its fall met.  What a time to have an interest in such things.
  • I looked at a parcel of property a few weeks ago and made some inquiries.  Apparently there is a motivated seller, as I was contacted again with a suggested different and possibly better deal then was mentioned the first time. I am going to have to check it out again and see what my thought are in regards to the new deal.  It is a small tract of land, and God know that I would love to be back with a farm.
  • Answered prayers.  I am not even sure sometimes what it was exactly that motivated me to pray for somethings, but I am happy that it seems all things are working out for people that were involved.
  • Having a friend that can listen to me when I am drinking and not complain or nor even be judgmental when I talk about pregnant bartenders that are due and find out she is due at a time when, if things had happened in a way, I could - hmmm - to much information.  Just good that she listened.  Addendum:  What darn funniness that some of you all think the bartender might be pregnant because of me.  No, she just reminded of things and because I left the door open just a bit some of you leap to conclusions.  In actual fact she is relatively new and I have just only met her.
  • Time spent with horses of late, though still not as much as I would like for it to be.
  • Living in a place where in general there is very little risk of childhood starvation and the lack thereof.  I admit, it really bugged me to hear some certain statistics the other day on that subject.
  • My quasi hooking back up with some old friends - granted I need to pursue that a bit more, but initial steps have been made.
