Dogs & Babies

Bitzer PupI know I have already written about cats and mailmen earlier this eve, and it seems like the place might be going to, well the animals.  I apologize in advance, I am being a bit of an insomniac this eve.  I keep telling folks that it occurs about once a week or so.  That I just get on a roll with something and sleep very little or instead just give up and shower for the day.  For instance, last week, it was last Monday.  I just got on a roll with some online things as well as getting stuff ready for a move and bam, it was 4:30 before I knew it.  Promise not to be up that late this eve and definitely not writing additional blogs if I am.

I have often observed in the past just how much having a dog with you can open those proverbial doors in the introduction of oneself to a woman that has at least made a passing interest or maybe even beyond that on rare occasion.  It just gives and immediate conversational topic.  It of course does not hurt if you have a really striking, very cute and smart, and extremely well behaved, attention whore who loves pets and especially belly rubs, dog like my Bitzer in the mix either.  It is that introduction with out the corniness of some lame, probably worn out line or worse yet a come on line.

On Saturday, while listening to live music I noticed this red head over on the other side from where I was positioned.  She occasionally glanced my direction, though I know not if from my presence, Bitzer’s presence, or just merely line of site with someone or something else that she was observing.  Granted, I am just not really thinking of pursuing such at the moment, but it intrigued me greatly.  She at one point even got up, walked around to my side, turned and walked back around to where she was.  She had Bitzer’s attention for a few moments and how I pondered “accidentally” letting her pull the leash from my hand.

And then a strange thing happened.  An apparently single man or at least without a woman with him at the time, approached the straw bales near to her.   This was not so unusual, after all, she was attractive and I am pretty sure had even danced in the group that had performed just prior to my arrival.  However, the man was herding and alternating carrying a young toddler.    Her glances that may or may not have been toward Bitzer and myself were but fleeting memories of moments vanished.  She had only eyes and especially smiles for the young boy and occasionally the assumed keeper of the boy.

I was reminded immediately of my wasted days after my divorce when I very rarely and usually only when something came up very suddenly or emergency in nature kept my nephew.  I recall the few times we went to the grocery store.  A babe, it is sad to say, is a chick magnet like nothing else.  Come to think of that, Axe product, they are probably bottling baby essence in it if it works as advertised.  Well - now I have to think, I have two nephews that are both getting near two.

I wonder if Moms would let me borrow for just a few hours a night for a week or two?  Because just as paper always looses to scissors, so too does dog always loose to baby.

Now, what category for this one?  Oh and it is in fun, so don’t go getting your mullet up.
