Catch 44

If you have two situations of a “catch 22″ nature, then you are in a “catch 44″ right?  So – a bit of background and in the process of that an explanation of why posting has been kind light the last few weeks on occasion.  Roughly a year ago, as I was working along merrily at my job, mostly doing the computer work on larger scale deployments and occasionally writing a script or something my immediate boss and the company parted ways.  After some thought about the situation, that especially focused on do I want the responsibility or do I want to the chance some hard to work for person will get hired instead (catch 22 number one), I ended up taking the position.

Shortly after that, as we are four different properties and none of the software was consolidated nor truly leveraging or utilizing the ability that afforded, we started pursuing a common software system.  Said system had to be scalable, met our business needs, come at the right price, etc.  Biggest reason from my standpoint though was the long-term less effort required to support one system running on one platform across four properties versus the 10 different systems it would be replacing.  However the months from time we starting looking at vendors in September of 2007 until the final deployment of the last pieces going live on October 1, 2008 I have had a busy time of things at the office (the second catch 22).  2009 should be an easy year relatively speaking though.

This last two weeks or so have been particularly long days and hours as the first 2/3rds of the project went life yesterday.  To give an example, I worked a normal day Friday, worked thirtheen hours on Saturday, followed by twelve on both Sunday and Monday, and only because of a break in the middle of the day another roughly ten hours yesterday.  In between and around that I have still had some life to take care of and so I have been running just about empty as to having the time or inclination to post here, despite several more then interesting topics having crossed my mind on the drives between places.
